YMCA of Catawba Valley seeking a Child Care Director for our Hickory Foundation branch located in the beautiful foothills of Hickory, NC.
Job Description
General Function:
Under the general direction of the Sr Program Dir of Childcare & Family Svcs and consistent with the Christian mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley, the Childcare Director will provide direction and leadership in the preschool childcare department of the YMCA of Catawba Valley, will assist the Association with supervision and licensing requirements for School Age programming, and work in conjunction with other staff to achieve Association goals.
As a member of the professional staff, the Childcare Director is a constructive member of the YMCA whose major priority is to serve the members of the YMCA with the highest quality of programs and facilities available.
Qualifications
Minimum Standards / Required Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Childcare, Psychology, Sociology, Business Management, or related field and/or commensurate experience.
· Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and supervisory experience with YMCA or like organization.
· Must have childcare and childcare administration experience.
· Experience in a state-licensed childcare setting preferred.
· Strong understanding of fiscal management and budget process.
· Highly developed organization skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff.
· First Aid, CPR, current negative TB test, medical exam, fingerprint check, and criminal records check required.
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Must be responsive to members and program participants.
· Must be attentive to details, well organized, able to meet deadlines, take initiative to solve problems, be proactive in decision making, and work with little supervision.
· Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.
· Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility and program areas.
· Must have strong oral and written communication skills with volunteers, members, and parents.
Essential Functions
Primary Responsibilities:
· Overall Childcare Programming: Program Development and Curriculum, Staff Training, USDA Food Program administration, Summer Food Service Program, Parent Communication
· Hickory Childcare Programming: Hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff; overseeing daily operations and management
· Budget: Development, implementation, and monitoring of Hickory Childcare department budget
· Philanthropy: Achieving goal for annual fundraising efforts
· Assumes other duties as assigned by Sr Program Dir of Childcare & Family Svcs or Executive Director
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Overall Childcare Programming: NCDHSS Licensing Requirements, Marketing and Promotions, Accounts Receivables
· Events: Attend YMCA events and others as assigned
· Manager on Duty: assumes MOD responsibilities as scheduled
