Date: November 27, 2023 Position: Terms of Contract: Teacher (CTE – Business, Finance and Information Technology) North Lincoln High School 10 Months, Full-Time, benefit eligible Reports To: Principal Monthly Salary: FLSA: Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement) EXEMPT Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance and Information Technology or a related degree; must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in appropriate licensure area.
The successful applicant must agree to serve as the FBLA Advisor.
Goal: To prepare students for postsecondary education and careers and provide students with the meaningful and engaging instruction for and about business.
Instruction in Business, Finance and Information Technology encompasses business skills and techniques, an understanding of basic economics and the American business system, an understanding of socioeconomic decisions and producing goods and services for consumption.
Business, Finance and Marketing education plays a key role in preparing a competent, business-literate, and skilled workforce.
To develop inquiry-based, critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they relate to the accelerated shifts taking place in the business world and how these changes impact the skills, attitudes and abilities needed for success in today’s workplace.
Duties: Teach knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to secondary pupils: Business Essentials, Business Management, Accounting, Microsoft Office and Financial Planning.
Use the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and CTE Essential Standards adopted by the State Board of Education to plan appropriate instructional activities Serve as the advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America FBLA) Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district Develop lesson plans and organize synchronous instruction so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed within the allotted time Participate in Career & Technical Education professional development opportunities locally and at the state level to ensure continuous improvement and further understanding of the program area Prepare appropriate instructional aids and display materials, including digital instruction, to enhance learning Serve as the FBLA Advisor and prepare students for state and national competitions; FBLA enhances preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate with classroom instruction and prepares students to be community-minded, professionally responsible and experienced leaders Maintain an auditable record of pupil attendance and make daily reports Control assigned district-owned classroom equipment to prevent loss or abuse Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the laboratory-type classroom where several kinds of activities may be taking place simultaneously Instruct pupils in importance of soft skills in the workplace in today’s business world Evaluate each pupil’s performance, knowledge, and skills in courses being taught and prepare pupil progress reports and employment references Maintain continued contact with the business community to keep in touch with job entry requirements Maintain required CTE inventory records Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects Other duties as assigned Application Deadline: Position Open Until Filled Position Available: January 4, 2024 Application Process: All candidates are required to complete an on-line application via Applicant Tracking.
