Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Human Resource Manager’s responsibility is to provide effective professional leadership to the operation as concerns to employee and labor relations.
Also responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating policies, procedures, and programs for the following areas: Recruiting/Retention, Employee/Labor Relations, Training and Development, Safety and Worker’s Compensation, Wage and Salary Administration, FMLA Leave, Benefit Plan Administration, Human Resources Planning, Equal Employment and Affirmative Action.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Responsible for recruitment and retention across all levels of the organization, including establishing tools and processes that deliver cost-effective, high-quality candidates for selection.
* Collaborates with department hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings, and ongoing development of staff.
* Manage all employee-relations activities and programs including but not limited to employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation and training.
* Manage entire staffing process including hiring, onboarding, termination and exit interviews.
* Determines ways to improve company culture and reduce turnover.
* Manages employee investigations and disputes in a way that minimizes risk for the company.
* Plans and organizes company events, e.
g.
luncheon, picnics, recognition, etc.
* Serves as the liaison between management and employees by handling questions and assisting in the resolution of employee related issues.
* Ensure all policies, procedures and practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Conducts periodic audits of human resource activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
* Create and implement all human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
* Processing payroll- Bi-weekly.
* Work with VP Finance and VP Operations on benefits renewal.
* Responsible for the daily administration of benefits plans such as health, vision, dental, health savings accounts, life insurance, LTD, 401K, and voluntary benefits.
* Participate in annual salary planning and updates hourly and salary compensation as necessary.
* Creates and updates job descriptions.
* Provides effective guidance and coaching to Plant Leadership, relating to employee concerns, problems, and disciplinary action to comply with company policies.
* Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to confirm to EEO regulations.
* Handles all FMLA Leave, worker’s compensation, unemployment claims, OSHA reporting, investigating, and responding to EEO charges, and claims filed with Federal and State agencies.
* Keeps employees informed of all changes in human resources policies, counsels with employees on policies and personal problems.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by VP Operations.
*QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:* * Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
* 5 + years of previous HR management experience preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
* Strong knowledge of HR Compliance/ North Carolina Employment Law.
* PHR or SPHR certification a plus.
* Excellent communications and presentation skills.
* High level of integrity; demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and scenarios.
* Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
* Computer skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power point) as well as HRIS system.
* Requires travel between both facilities Newton, NC and Conover, NC for meetings and/or Company business as needed.
