_JOB DESCRIPTION Assistant Director of Clinical Services (ADON)_ *Assistant Director of Clinical * *Services * *(ADON)* *Purpose of Your Job Position * As a Consulate Health Care Assistant Director of Clinical Services, you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, co-workers, visitors and all others; as well as demonstrating in all interactions, Consulate Health Care’s five core values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Passion.
The primary purpose of your position is to monitor clinical compliance with state and federal regulations.
You are entrusted to provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results *.
* *Job Functions * As Assistant Director of Clinical Services, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Responsible for the functions of the Corporate Clinical and Clinical Reimbursement Services Department.
No supervisory function.

*Duties and Responsibilities * 1.
Acts as a liaison between the Director of Nursing and the nursing staff.
2.
Participate in the development and achievement of nursing department goals and objectives.
3.
Staff development functions/responsibilities.
Provide educational programming.
4.
Assist in the implementation of and monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice consistent with corporate and external regulatory guidelines.
5.
Collaborate with various department heads to promote positive interdepartmental relations.
6.
Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of an accurate and effective documentation system.
7.
Provide direct resident care as staffing patterns demand.
8.
Act as a resource person and role mode for nursing staff.
9.
Assure effective interaction with resident and families.
10.
Actively participate in the quality improvement process for the facility.
11.
Participate in and/or provide inservice education sessions.
12.
Attend and participate in department/facility meeting, as required.
13.
Assist surveyors and inspectors to facilitate regulatory compliance, as per the direction of the director of Clinical Services.
14.
Access continuing education opportunities, appropriate to discipline and responsibilities.
15.
Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in facility quality improvement and safety programs.
16.
Must complete preceptor training.

Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
Monitor pharmacy care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Ensure that all pharmacy care is provided in privacy and that pharmacy service personnel *knock* before entering the resident’s room.
Ensure that all pharmacy service personnel are knowledgeable of the residents’ responsibilities and rights, including the right to refuse treatment.
Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written/oral report to the Executive Director indicating what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or grievance.
Follow facility’s established procedures.
Maintain a written record of the resident’s complaints and/or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
Ensure that appropriate notices are given to residents before their room or roommate is changed.
Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Ensure that pharmacy staff personnel honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request.
Ensure that such requests are in accordance with the facility’s policies governing advance directives.
Ensure that the facility’s policies and procedures governing advance directives are reviewed with the resident and/or representative.
*Working Conditions* Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.
Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.

Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.

Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc.

*Education* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must possess a current CPR certification.
*Experience* Must have a minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population served by this facility.
Minimum of one (1) year of management experience preferred.
*Specific Requirements* Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to provide care appropriate to the age-related need of the residents served.
Must possess knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to facility function.
Must possess knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirement.
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc.

Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the company, which include a medical and physical examination.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
