Job Summary:
The Director of Cardiac Critical Care Services supports the Cardiovascular ICU and the Coronary Care Unit.
The Director is accountable for high quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
The Director of Cardiac Critical Care Services will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice in each unit.
The Director will supervise and evaluate the work activities of all nursing personnel and provide clinical leadership and set strategic and long-term goals for the nursing staff.
The Director will assess performance objectives for each nursing unit and organize, coordinate, develop, and review policies, procedures, and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance, and quality care standards.
Job Description:
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Job Qualification:
- Bachelor in Nursing, Master's Degree is preferred
- RN in North Carolina or a Compact state is required
- BLS & ACLS required
- At least 5 years of RN experience, ICU experience required
- At least 2 years of management experience
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability.
- Ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
