The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for an Administrative Lead position (Working Title: MSC Medical Courier Supervisor) for our Mail Service Center (MSC) Division.
This position will serve as a shift supervisor, supervising employees in the Mail Sort Section and Medical Courier drivers of the Mail Service Center.
Job duties include the following: Supervise staff such as medical courier drivers.
Train staff in equipment use, sorting methods, etc.
, cross-training employees on various equipment.
Recommend methods to improve workflow and supply/equipment needs.
Maintain equipment and ensure that it operates effectively.
Ensure that appropriate supplies are available.
Supervision duties include interviewing applicants and making recommendations for hire, approving leave for employees supervised, etc.
Supervise, evaluate, and correct deficiencies of the personnel in charge.
Fill and provide requested reports from the State Laboratory.
Develop monthly production reports, etc.
Maintain a Statewide Courier network to include supplies, equipment, and routes.
Create and maintain schedules in order to provide full coverage on routes.
Ensure that appropriate coverage is available to cover all routes on time.
Drive to cover routes as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Division/ Department Overview The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective, efficient, economical and equitable delivery of services to the public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION THAT CLEARLY REFLECTS WORK EXPERIENCE THAT DEMONSTRATES ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: NOTE: "See Resume" is not acceptable to show work history.
Experience with scheduling work plans, establishing efficient schedules; as well as supervising, counsel and evaluate employees and their performance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
Experience with data entry, creating documents and correspondence, maintaining records and equipment, writing reports.
Experience with setting up mail in delivery order, loading trucks, and safely drive to the locations on a specified routes to make deliveries and pick-ups.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES: Considerable knowledge of the various types of mail and the proper handling of each as well as familiarity of the United States postal system and its operation.
Experience with training employees in all phases of mail processing and effectively dealing with the general public/ co-workers.
Route logistic experience Mail center experience.
Supervisory experience.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
