PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE - CLINICS

This position will be cross trained in all clinics and any new clinics that may be added in the future and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed and supervised under the Public Health Nurse Supervisor.
The normal work schedule includes Monday to Friday 8:00AM - 5:00 PM and may occasionally require evening and weekend hours to promote clinic services.

Essential Functions This position is cross trained across all clinical services areas (Primary Care, Maternal Care, Family Planning, Child Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, BCCP, Wisewoman, General Services, Employee Health and Wellness).
Follow clinics individual policies and standing orders.
Provide comprehensive preventive, rehabilitative and treatment services.
Provide medical, clinical, educational support and referral services.
Perform medical screenings and testing.
Follow up with lab results and referrals from clinics.
Assist with mobile screening bus, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs: considerable knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health; considerable knowledge of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed: general knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health; ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions; ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships; ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.
Education and Experience Graduated from a school of professional nursing with an Associates Degree in Nursing and 1 year of Nursing Experience; or Graduated from a 4-year College or University with a B.
S.
Degree in Nursing.
Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
g.
business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department.

In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
