Brief Job Summary
This position coordinates digital literacy programs and services for the library and assists in the management of library technologies.
Job Responsibilities
• Plans, implements, and promotes a variety of digital literacy and technology-related library programs and workshops, including STEM outreach initiatives.
• Provides one-on-one technology assistance to help patrons access digital resources or troubleshoot technology problems.
• Assists with the creation of digital content, including the digitization of local history collections and the creation of online programs and videos.
• Helps manage and maintain library software and technologies, including integrated library system, 3D printers, laser cutters, digital resources, etc.
; provides training workshops for staff and patrons.
• Edits library website and digital content for accuracy and consistency; updates and adds new content.
• Creates, curates, and submits relevant, high-quality, and original content for the library's social media and other digital platforms.
• Collaborates with the Library Director to develop and facilitate the implementation of a technology and digital services plan which incorporates goals and objectives from the library’s strategic plan.
• Partners with the IT Department to communicate technology and digital services' needs; troubleshoot problems; coordinate strategic planning; implement and evaluate responsive and innovative technologies.
• Assists with the collection, reporting, and analysis of data related to library services, programs, and resources.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of technologies, software, and digital resources.
• Works with the Director to budget for new technologies, software, and digital resources.
• Assists with the selection, training, and implementation of new technologies used in STEAM-related outreach programs.
• Assists in the coordination and management of e-rate applications to secure funding for broadband internet.
• Assists with the preparation and promotion of library events, services, programming, and outreach.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Master of Library Science degree preferred.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years' experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
