The part-time office assistant, human resources is responsible for providing administrative support to the department, and customer service to the employees, students and guests of the College.
The majority of the office assistant's tasks will focus on keeping orderly and easily retrievable hard and soft copies of human resources documentation.
Other marginal functions include audits and assistance with department related tasks.
Examples of Duties Essential Functions: Organize, maintain and update employee and applicant files, including scanning and indexing transcripts, I-9s, medical, and personnel files according to the NC Records, Retention and Disposition Schedule.
Proofread documents, records, and other files to ensure accuracy.
Assure proper storage, organization and retrieval of human resources records.
Receives, opens, sorts and distributes mail within the department.
Disseminate information regarding new and exiting employees; and as relates to MyCCCTI portal and website updates.
Greet and direct visitors; answer inquiries or provide general information regarding policies and procedures.
Answer telephone calls; provide basic information; take messages; screen requests for supervisor and refer to appropriate individual or outside agencies for additional assistance.
Marginal Functions: Complete yearly audits of all records.
Support departments in completing employee onboarding and/or orientations.
Assist with supervisor training of the online performance evaluation system.
Complete employment verifications, as assigned Participate in the execution of annual open enrollment and other special events.
Contribute to the development, recommendation and implementation of human resources-related processes and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Scheduling Conditions: This is a part-time position working 16 hours a week, generally arranged into four, 4-hour days.
Availability for both day and occasional evening work on any Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute site (or arranged off-campus site) is required during peak periods.
Traveling Conditions: Local travel between the Caldwell campus, Watauga campus, or any off-campus sites may be needed.
Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for training and conferences.
Experience and Training Experience: Demonstrated document organization experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams.
Prior full-time office administrative experience, and/or specifically in human resources, is preferred.
Additionally, experience working with higher education, and/or specifically with the NC Community College System, is preferred.
Training: High School diploma required.
An Associate Degree with a concentration in Business Administration or Human Resources, preferred.
A variation on the degree and experience requirements will be considered if it is comparable to the skills represented.
