Performs intermediate administrative work involving a variety of administrative office support tasks, specialized personnel assignments, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Assistant HR Director.
The normal work schedule Monday through Friday 8AM -5 PM.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides information and assistance to applicants, employees, retirees, supervisors, department heads and the manager's office regarding interpretation, application and understanding of all personnel related policies and procedures; serves as first point of contact for all employees and potential employees.
Greets all walk-ins and answers all incoming calls to the HR office; creates, maintains and organizes employee files; answers phone; order supplies and completes all filing for the HR office.
Identifies, administers, tracks, and maintains multiple employee related matters, including but not limited to education assistance programs, unemployment claims, employee and wage verification, and employee spotlight.
Coordinate random drug screening program.
Serves on the HR interview team and assists with job fairs.
Administers, promotes, and tracks the Education Assistance Program for County employees.
Uploads contact changes into HRIS, keeps track of employee evaluations.
Participates in county departmental celebrations, recognition events, and appreciation events, to connect with employees and ensure a positive HR presence.
Serves as backup to other related HR personnel functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures; thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; ability to communicate and present ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to apply established policies, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees, and the general public.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Associates/Technical degree in business administration, human resources, or related field and 1-3 years' experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
