At The Ship Group Behavioral Health & Community Services (TSGBH) and The Black Therapy Network, we are expanding our team and seeking a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS).

*Key Responsibilities:*
- Conduct outreach to inform the community about agency services and assist new clients.
-Be a referral source and gain new clients independently
- Facilitate community visits with participants in various settings weekly, as assigned by the program supervisor.
- Deliver services based on the principles and philosophies of recovery, providing peer support services.
- Collaborate with participants to explore and identify barriers to accessing community resources and engaging with service providers.
- Utilize lived experience to support, encourage, and enhance participants' work on their recovery goals outlined in the Person-Centered Plan.
- Implement interventions aligned with recovery goals and model healthy social interactions.
- Assist participants in navigating the community, accessing resources/services, and developing a sense of community.
- Recognize and respond to potential emergent conditions/situations, using crisis response interventions in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the program Qualified Professional to assess strengths, areas of growth, and develop a supervision plan.
- Promote self-advocacy by educating participants on their human and legal rights and encouraging them to exercise those rights.
- Follow standards and program outcomes outlined in the NC Division of Medical Assistance Clinical Coverage Policy 8G.
*Qualifications:*
- High school diploma or general equivalence degree (GED).
- NC Certification for Certified Peer Support Specialists.
- Preferred: at least 6 months to a year of paid experience with adults with mental health
- Completed and maintains required trainings set forth by NC Division of Medical Assistance Clinical Coverage Policy 8G.
- Basic knowledge about severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Flexible and willing to work in a "non-traditional" work environment.
*Work/Credential Requirements:*
- Work within the scope of training and knowledge based on the level of education and certification.
- Understand various levels of care based on the continuum of services.
- Implement evidence-based interventions and concepts to individuals and natural supports in community settings.
- Reliable transportation is a must for in-person meetings.
