*Job Description *
*Job Title - *Maintenance Technician I
*Reports To *- Maintenance Supervisor
*Position Summary *
The Maintenance Technician I role provides supportive, hands-on, technical and administrative assistance.
A Maintenance Technician I assists with the maintenance, construction and safety programs of the Statesville Housing Authority's units.
This position will also assist with the maintenance and safety programs for contracted operations as assigned and maintains inventory.
*Responsibilities *
* Completes work orders as required.
* Executes and drives maintenance action plan.
* Executes a preventive maintenance schedule
* Assists in planning improvement/additions to units.
* May assist and coordinate with the water/sewer, sanitation, street and light Departments of the City.
* Works closely with the gas and other utility companies.
* Implements safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other Federal, State and Local Laws or requirements.
* Always ensures the safety of employees and residents/tenants.
* Maintains diligence to ensure the security programs of the organization.
* *Performs on-call duties as required (you will receive time and a half pay for this)*
* Acts as a Safety Liaison.
* Other duties as assigned and required.
*Education *
Must have an Associate's Degree in construction or in a related field, supplemented by courses in mechanical engineering.
Must have some OSHA training.
*Experience *
5 years experience in several building trades is required.
Must have at least 2 years experience in maintenance management and/or supervision.
Some experience in managing maintenance supplies inventory is required.
Some experience in the development and implementation of safety programs is desired.
*Knowledge and Skills*
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the methods, practices, tool and material used in building maintenance and repair work, including appliances and household equipment.
A thorough knowledge of occupation hazards and safety precautions is required.
Must be able to make accurate estimates of time and material costs required to complete building repair and maintenance projects.
Must have good leadership and interpersonal skills.
Some understanding of materials and supplies purchasing management is desired.
Must possess a valid NC Driver's License.
*Physical Requirements *
Must be able to sit, stand and move for moderate periods of time as required to complete the tasks of the job.
Must also be able to lift up to 40lbs on a periodic basis.
*Must be able to work on-call after hours and weekends.

Pay: $20.
00 - $22.
00 per hour
